PDP Impeaching Al-Makura Because They Want Labaran Maku As Governor

The Deputy Governor of Nasarawa State, Mr. Luka Barau, has been warned by the party behind the impeachment proceedings of Governor Al Makura not to even think of contesting come 2015.

APC Governor Al Makura is on the verge of being impeached from office due to PDP lawmakers in the Nasarawa House of Assembly voting for a seven-man panel to investigate him on several charges of corruption.

A source close to the situation said that the PDP have plans of putting Minister of Information, Mr. Labaran Maku, and Senator Solomon Ewuga, representing Nasarawa North at the Senate, there and the deputy might spoil the alleged plan, if he seeks re-election.

Nasarawa North is yet to produce a governor since the return of democracy in Nigeria and PDP wants their man in the hot seat.

Not just contempt with the arrangement but PDP also want their man, Speaker, Musa Ahmed, representing Nasarawa Constituency to be promoted to the Deputy Governor, while Deputy Speaker, Elisha Agwadu, takes over as the new Speaker of the House.

These were the said deals that had to be agreed on before the 20 man PDP House members decided on impeaching the incumbent governor.

They had earlier wanted to take the Adamawa path, and make the deputy resign before the impeachment was made so that the speaker would become the governor for the INEC allowed three months before  a new general election was held.

Sources, who were present in the meetings in Lafia and Abuja, told Vanguard reporters that the new governor could stay for the remaining 10 months only if he does not look to participate in next year's general elections.

APC's Nasarawa state governor, Mr. Al-Makura has been for some months now having problems with the assembly whose majority are PDP elites.

The lawmakers have accused the governor of ordering his thugs to stone them as they left the House and after seeing the way Adamawa State governor, Murtala Nyako was impeached. They are now trying to impact the same strategy.

Meanwhile, the opposition party APC have accused President Goodluck Jonathan (PDP) for being behind these impeachments.
