Judge Drags Jonathan To Court Over Her Compulsory Retirement.
Justice Gladys Olotu has challenged her compulsory retirement approved by the President Goodluck Jonathan on Tuesday in the same Abuja Federal High Court where she worked.
The National Judicial CouncilI (NJC) recommended to dismiss Olotu and Justice U. A. Inyang for misconduct after investigations into petitions brought against them.
Olotu has reportedly denied the allegations, describing the petition that warranted her suspension and dismissal as malicious.
In the motion filed on her behalf by her counsel S. I. Ameh (SAN) Olotu seeks a judicial review of her suspension and recommendation for retirement by the NJC.
The list of the defendants in the suit include President Jonathan, the NJC, the Chief Justice of Nigeria Mariam Mukhtar, the Attorney-General of the Federation Mohammed Adoke (SAN), and the Chief Judge of the Federal High Court Ibrahim Auta.
After hearing the motion on Wednesday, Justice Adeniyi Ademola granted Olotu leave to seek a judicial review of her suspension, and thereafter fixed March 19 for hearing.
Justice Ademola directed that all the defendants should be served with the motion before the hearing date.
