Mbu Failed To Achieve His Mission In Rivers State, LG Says

The immediate past Commissioner of Police in Rivers State Mbu Joseph Mbu did not manage to achieve his mission in the state, according to the local Government.

State Commissioner for Lands and Survey, Hon. Ezemonye Ezekiel-Amadi briefed the press at his office in state capital Port Harcourt.

It will be recalled that, before being redeployed to serve in the Federal Capital Territory, Mr. Mbu had warned his successor Tunde Ogunsakin to watch out for the tinted vehicles owned by the Government, as their occupants could be 'assassins'.

"Here is a man who, while he was here, hardly paraded any criminal arrested by him. He doesn't have any pedigree to advice the new Commissioner of because while he was here, he did not do his work as Commissioner of Police," Mr. Ezekiel-Amadi said.

He described Mr. Mbu as an 'unstable character' and a 'lunatic', maintaining that the ex-Rivers Commissioner of Police had never arrested any 'Government agent' who used such vehicles during his 'infamous rule'.

Mr. Ezekiel-Amadi recalled the recent scandalous events when, allegedly on Mr. Mbu's orders, the police used teargas and rubber bullets to disperse a number of peaceful rallies.

"Here is a man who claimed that he is a professional and that he has the powers to either grant approval for rallies under the Public Order Act. He claimed he had such powers. He did not know that Justice Anuli Chikere of the Federal High Court, upheld by the Court of Appeal, had nullified the Public Order Act. He didn't know [this] and he said he was a professional."

Mr. Ezekiel-Amadi also urged Supervising Minister of Education, Nyesom Wike, to be careful if he was employing the services of Mbu.

He said Mr. Mbu, in private conversations with Rivers State lawmaker Chidi Lloyd, district police officers and area Commanders under his supervision, spoke of 'chilling' things. One such thing was Mr. Mbu's assumption that he would be appointed the Inspector General of Police, IGP

"Who will appoint Mbu IG of Police?" Mr. Ezekiel-Amadi questionned. "I want to assume that he came to Rivers State with a script. But can't you see that he failed in his assignment? He bungled it because he doesn't have the brain to put together an action plan.

"So, can those people who sent him look at him again and give him a higher assignment? Yet, he said he is a professional. As far as I am concerned, Mbu is a tout."
