Ambode, Falana Others Mark June 12 Anniversary In Lagos
Today marks the 22nd anniversary of the June 12, 1993 presidential election which the late business mogul, entrepreneur par excellence, philanthropist, sport enthusiast and astute politician, Chief Moshood Kashimawo Olawale Abiola, was widely regarded as the presumed winner.
According to The Nation, some eminent Nigerians today called on the federal government to declare June 12 Democracy Day, in place of May 29, in order to immortalise Abiola.
Among those who added their voice to the call were Lagos State Governor, Mr. Akinwunmi Ambode; Lagos State Speaker of House of Assembly, Honourable Olatunji Obasa, Professor of International Law and Jurisprudence, Akin Oyebode; Human Right Lawyer, Femi Falana and former Commissioner for Information in Lagos, Dele Alake.

They all agreed that the declaration was the best national recognition that could be accorded the struggle that Abiola died for.

Meanwhile, President Buhari, has been asked to, as a matter of urgency rename the Aso Rock presidential villa after late Moshood Kashimawo Abiola.
