How Boko Haram Terrorises Gombe, Yobe On Election Day!

Boko Haram insurgents have caused elections in Gombe state to be suspended while voters in Yobe State were killed fulfilling their promise to disrupt elections .

According to Leadership newspaper, two people were left dead following the attack on two polling stations in the state.

One election official was quoted by Vanguard as saying after the shootings: “We could hear the gunmen shouting, ‘Didn’t we warn you about staying away from (the) election?”

Polling stations had earlier opened at 8:00am across the country but the late arrival of officials and materials delayed the accreditation process before voting proper from 1:30pm.

The attacks happened in the villages of Birin Bolawa and Birin Fulani in the Nafada district of Gombe state, which has been repeatedly targeted by the Islamists.
