Protesting Youths Burn Village Head’s House in Kaduna

Irate youths, on Thursday, burnt the guest house and vehicles of Rilwanu Sama’ila, the village head of Yakawada, in Giwa Local Government Area of Kaduna state.

A resident of the area said that the riot was caused by an alleged discovery of the mutilated corpse of a 10-year-old girl close to Sama’ila’s guest house.

The source added that youths took to the streets in protest because the killing was the third of its kind in the area this year.

When contacted, the state’s Commissioner of Police, Olufemi Adenaike, said the situation had been brought under control by the policemen deployed to the area.

“We have received the report and my men were mobilised to the scene to beef up security,” he said. “We are on top of the situation now. All the same, I will get back to you later when I get more details.”
