The family of R&B musician Keyshia Cole is mourning their mother, Frankie Lons, who passed away on her birthday, aged 61.

Frankie is known to have had a decade long struggle with drug addiction, and it is believed it is what led to her death.

According to TMZ, who spoke to Cole's brother Sam, Frankie is believed to have overdosed on drugs at her Oakland home on Sunday, July 18.

Frankie was reportedly on a journey to sobriety when she relapsed and took drugs during her birthday celebrations.

Singer's sister reveals details

Going on her Instagram Stories, Cole's sister Elite Noel shared a post saying she was experiencing the worst pain ever after watching her mum in a body bag.

She added her heart was so fu**in broke.

Sam said the family kept in touch with their mother and were proud that she was staying sober.

They want her to be remembered as a loving mother who wanted unity in her home despite a turbulent history.

Cole was given up for adoption while very young by Frankie and her biological dad, Virgil Hunter, and was raised by family friends.

She was reunited with her mother way later after hitting big in music, with the singer featuring her on her TV series Keyshia Cole My New Life.

Biz Markie dead

A couple of days back, Legit.ng reported fans of Marcel Theo Hall, alias Biz Markie were in mourning following the demise of the larger-than-life hip-hop star.

Legit.ng has learnt Biz, popularly known for his hit song Just A Friend died on Friday, July 16, at 57.

His untimely demise was confirmed by his manager, Jenni Izumi, but he did not provide an official cause of death.

Legit.ng understands Biz had been diagnosed with Type 2 diabetes in his late 40s and revealed that he lost 140 pounds in the years that followed.
