The motorist who filmed the officer agreed that he would give him N10,000 so his car wouldn't be driven to the LASMA office for a huge fine.
I bought this bicycle 40 years ago for N23 and I will ride it till death comes - Nigerian man from Kano says
Driving the car to the office environment to make use of POS for the transaction, the officer said he was being magnanimous with the motorist because they are both Yoruba.
He said he opted for POS because it is impossible for a LASTMA officer to use his account for such illegal transaction.
According to him, LASTMA officers deal with Igbo and Hausa motorists by imposing a huge fine on them whenever they break the law.
He said he decided to be a LASTMA officer because there was no other job available for him.
The officer also revealed that their bosses are aware of their illegality because they are the ones who usually give them targets to meet on a daily basis.
Nigerians share their reactions
Reacting to the video, Instagram user with the handle @alybee401 wrote:
"Every tribe in Nigeria are all tribalistic... Very few individuals from each tribe, understand what it means to be morals and have the best interest of humanity."
"Ask him what an Igbo man/woman has done to him and he won't have anything to say. A typical Yoruba man/woman prefers the Hausa man over the Igbo man yet the Igbos live peacefully and never ever bother anybody. They are so hated for wanting to leave a failed Country that has always treated them horribly. Such a shame."
"This one will lose his job."
"The camera man did a perfect job. Not all this camera shakers."
