Harvest of Deaths as Bandits Attack Villages in Niger, Kill 10

Some Nigerians have once again lost their lives as a result of bandits' attacks.

Specifically, ten persons have been reportedly killed when bandits attacked some villages in Wushishi LGA of Niger state. The bandits also rustled hundreds of cattle during the attack carried out, The Cable reports.

Many residents were reportedly forced to flee the affected villages namely Kalakala, Tashan Dirigi, Atari, Agwa, Kwakwagi, Pakara and Takugi, The Cable reports.

The attack was confirmed by Mary Noel-Berje, chief press secretary to Niger governor.

He said:

“They invaded Atari village first. They seized more than 1000 cattle; all the cows around that area were carted away.”

He said the bandits arrived on motorcycles and forced traders in the village to jump into a nearby river.

Legit.ng had reported that two Nigerian Air Force (NAF) personnel attached to Air Force Regiment, Owerri, Imo state, have been shot dead.

The Imo state commissioner of police, Abutu Yaro, confirmed the incident to the Nigerian Tribune newspaper on Saturday, May 29 during a telephone conversation. He said that the deceased officers had gone to a selling point around the area to buy food to eat when they were shot dead.

CP Yaro said that the incident occurred around the park where the hoodlums stay to smoke Indian helm and from there they move to terrorise the people.

Also, Legit.ng had previously reported that the bandit leader, Auwal Daudawa, who planned the abduction of over 300 students in Katsina state went back to banditry.

It was reported that Daudawa abandoned the amnesty offered to him by the Zamfara state government and returned back to the trenches, less than three months after his celebrated repentance.

A security source quoted in the report said Daudawa has relocated to one of the forests, near the border with Katsina state.

Meanwhile, a message was sent to Nigerians by the Sultan of Sokoto, Muhammad Sa’ad Abubakar. According to the traditional ruler, Nigerians should not deceive themselves that things are alright in the country.
