Nigeria's Super Eagles maintained their position as the 32nd best footballing nation in the world according to the latest FIFA ranking released on Thursday, May 27.

The three-time Africa Cup of Nations champions also remained third on the continent after Senegal and Tunisia.

It is understandable that coach Gernot Rohr's men stood still in the period under review as they were not in action.

Their last games were played in March when they defeated both Benin Republic and Lesotho in the final rounds of the AFCON qualifiers.

Meanwhile, their next games have been scheduled for next month as they face Cameroon and Mexico in international friendly games.

According to the table, the Super Eagles are better than the 2019 AFCON winners Algeria while Morocco complete the top five best teams in Africa.

Belgium are still ranked number one footballing nation in the world and they have maintained the position for some time now while World Cup winners France are behind them.

Brazil, England and Portugal complete the top five best teams in the world while Spain and Italy could only finish sixth and seventh respectively.

Meanwhile, the next FIFA/Coca-Cola Men's World Ranking will be published on 12 August 2021 according to information on the organisation's website.

Legit.ng earlier reported that Nigeria's technical adviser Gernot Rohr has released a strong squad for his side's international friendly game billed for next month.

Topping the 24-man squad is the Super Eagles captain Ahmed Musa who currently plays for Nigeria Professional Football League outfit Kano Pillars.

The 28-year-old joined the Sai Masu Gida in the second half of the NPFL season to keep his place in the national team as the Africa Cup of Nations championship is drawing near.
