Super Eagles Legend Speaks On How Monumental Yekini Is To Nigerian Football

It's nine years since one of Nigeria's most prolific strikers Rashidi Yekini passed on and his former teammate Patrick Pascal has expressed that the forward made a huge impact in the game.

The 1993 African Footballer of the Year played seven tournaments for Nigeria and scored 37 goals in all competitions.

Yekini became the first Nigeria to score a World Cup goal at the 1994 tournament held in the United States.

And Pascal believes the former Vitoria Setubal star has done enough to earn in himself in history of Nigerian football and Africa at large.

He exclusively told Legit.ng:

"He doesn't talk too much, he goes on his own and concentrates on more of his playing.
"If he has 2, 3 friends, he can open up and speak Hausa very well with them.
"He is a good attacker because when you give him the ball the only thing he wants is to score.
"He has done well for Nigeria football, he is a legend, they will always remember him in the history of football in this country."

Meanwhile, Legit.ng had earlier reported that Patrick Pascal has given his stake on Super Eagles captain Ahmed Musa who recently joined Nigerian Professional League side Kano Pillars.

The Nigerian international has been unable to seal a deal to a top club in Europe after his contract with Saudi Arabian outfit Al Nassr expired.

Legit.ng also revealed that former Super Eagles star Patrick Pascal who was rewarded with a three-bedroom apartment in Lagos has thanked the governor of the state Babajide Sanwo-Olu.

Led by the president of the Nigerian Football Federation Amaju Pinnick, the Super Eagles players and coaching crew had dinner with Lagos state Governor on Thursday night, March 25 before their trip to Benin.

Pascal who is the current Super Eagles team coordinator was spotted during the night out and was rewarded with the prestigious gift.
