Manchester United legend Roy Keane has heaped praises on Mason Mount saying the Chelsea star has been outstanding for the Stamford Bridge side this season.

Keane branded the player’s critics as 'idiots' while lavishing praises on the youngster over his performances this season for club and country.

The 22-year-old has broken into the Blues starting line-up and also proved himself undroppable by Three Lions boss Gareth Southgate.

But Keane has labelled those critics as 'idiots', with the Irishman lauding the vibrant Chelsea star before Wednesday's World Cup qualifier. He told ITV Sport via Daily Mail:

“Outstanding player. He wants to be an all-round midfielder. I never hear anything negative about him off the pitch, he seems a brilliant young kid, he has gone out on loan he has done it the hard way.
“He is a fantastic player and I’m looking forward to seeing him tonight.”

Meanwhile, Mason Mount's father Tony revealed that his son geared up for the challenge when he heard Chelsea were on the verge of signing Hakim Ziyech and Kai Havertz.

The duo arrived for a big summer money move from Ajax and Bayer Leverkusen respectively but the 22-year-old has continued to maintain his starting position in the team.

Meanwhile, Legit.ng earlier reported that Gianluigi Donnarumma's prospects of joining Chelsea have received a massive boost after the Italian shot-stopper rejected a new deal with AC Milan.

Reports in Italy claim the 22-year-old and his agent Mino Raiola turned down a new contract offer from the Rossoneri which means he will become a free agent in the summer.

Donnarumma was reportedly offered a salary of £5.1million-per-year with an additional £851,000-per-year in bonuses should the San Siro outfit make it through to next season's Champions League.
