Spanish giants Real Madrid are reportedly prepared to reunite with Portuguese striker Cristiano Ronaldo amid reports that the superstar is set to leave Italian giants Juventus.

The former Real Madrid goal-machine has been heavily linked with a return to Santiago Bernabeu, but Juventus have insisted that he is going nowhere.

According to Fabio Paratici who is Juventus’ sporting director, Ronaldo will remain at the club beyond this season despite concerns about the value for money he brings to the team, given his reported €55 million-per-year (£47m/$65m) wages.

The Old Lady also suffered a Serie A defeat at home to Benevento and the director has also thrown his weight of support for manager Andrea Pirlo.

Their chances of winning their 10th Serie A title suffered yet another major setback following their disappointing defeat to 16th place Benevento at the Allianz Stadium on Sunday, March 21.

And there are behind the scene rumours that Ronaldo and Juve are set to meet for showdown talks because the player is considering his future in Italy after yet another UEFA Champions League disappointment.

Reports in Spain also suggest that Ronaldo has expressed his willingness to return to Los Blancos, who are assessing the situation.

According to Spanish outlet AS, the Spanish giants are seriously considering making a move to bring their former No. 7 back, especially with Zinedine Zidane's side having struggled to hit the same goalscoring heights from Ronaldo's days in Madrid.

The forward is currently earning €31 million (R544 million) a year at Juventus, which is believed to be €10 million (R175 million) more than what he pocketed at Real.

Legit.ng earlier reported that Cristiano Ronaldo might have traded winning the Italian League title for the golden boot this campaign.

The 36-year-old currently has 23 league goals - four better than Inter Milan attacker Romelu Lukaku while Zlatan Ibrahimovic's tally stands at 15 so far.

Meanwhile, the Old Lady are 10 points inferior to the Nerazzurri who are at the summit of the table with about 11 matches to the end of this campaign.

Andrea Pirlo's men recently crashed out of the Champions League at the last-16 stage for the second straight time and former Italy striker Antonio Cassano has urged Juve to sell the star.
