Olakunrin: Police arrest 5 more Suspects over Fasoranti's Daughter’s Killing

- Police have nabbed another set of suspects over the death of Funke Olakunrin

- Olakunrin, a daughter of the ex-Afenifere leader, was killed in July 2019

- Some suspects had been apprehended in 2020 in connection with the killing

Following the gruesome killing of Funke Olakunrin, a daughter of the former leader of Afenifere, Pa Reuben Fasoranti, police operatives have arrested five more suspects in the course of the investigation.

The Nation reports that Olakunrin was killed in July 2019 by suspected kidnappers along the Ore -Lagos highway.

Legit.ng gathered that the police revealed four suspects; Lawal Mazaje, Adamu Adamu, Mohammed Shehu Usman, and Auwal Abubakar and Shinkafi, who were earlier arrested, are being prosecuted.

The suspects were arraigned on three count charges of conspiracy to kill, murder and kidnapping.

TVC news also reports that the arrest of the five suspects was made known at the resumed hearing of the four suspects presided over by Justice Bode Adegbehingbe.

Grace Olowoporoku, lead counsel for the prosecution, informed the court that the five suspects were arrested following the continuous mentioning of their names during the investigation.

Justice Adegbehingbe adjourned the case to April 27, 29, 30, and May 5, 2021, for the continuation of the hearing.

Meanwhile, Legit.ng had previously reported that nine months after she was gruesomely murdered by unknown gunmen, police operatives arrested the killers of Funke Olakunrin.

It was reported that the arrest of Olakunrin's killers was announced by the Force public relations officer, Frank Mba, in a statement issued on Thursday, April 16, 2020, in Abuja.

The Inspector-General of Police, Mohammed Adamu, deployed the commissioner of police in charge of the Federal Special Anti-Robbery Squad, Fimihan Adeoye, to find Olakunrin's killers.

Wakili's fate was declared on Tuesday, March 16, by the presiding judge, Emmanuel Idowu after the police command in the state charged him and his sons, Abu, Samaila, and Aliyu Manu for murder, kidnapping, and armed robbery.
