Super Eagles striker Paul Onuachu on Sunday night, March 14, continued with his impressive goal-scoring form in the Belgian League as he scored for Genk in 2-1 win over Anderlecht.

His goal came days after being placed on the standby list for the coming two Super Eagles game against Benin Republic and Lesotho.

Paul Onuachu has now scored 27 goals this season for Genk which is an incredible record for the Nigerian football star.

Onuachu was handed his 31st appearance across all competitions this campaign and helped his side continue in their winning ways.

Onuachu opened the scoring in the 17th minute of the encounter with a fine finish after receiving a timely assist from Daniel Munoz.

The 26-year-old centre-forward came close to double his side’s lead in the 34th minute but his strike missed the target.

Matt Miazga scored an own goal in the second half to give Genk the lead in the tough encounter before Adrien Trebel netted the consolation goal at the death.

Meanwhile, Genk are currently occupying third position on the Belgian top division with 49 points after 30 games played so far this term.

Earlier, Legit.ng had reported how Gernot Rohr who is the handler of the Super Eagles of Nigeria is currently under serious attack after releasing the list of invited players for the AFCON 2022 qualifiers against Benin and Lesotho.

Nigeria are currently topping their group in the qualifiers with 8 points after four games played and the Super Eagles will only be needing a point to get their AFCON 2022 ticket.

Super Eagles failed to get a win all through the year 2020 as they were unable to beat Sierra Leone in their last two games of the year.

On Tuesday afternoon, March 9, the Nigeria Football Federation through their media department announced the names of the players who will face Benin and Lesotho this month.

And to the surprise of many Nigerian football lovers, Genk striker Paul Onuachu who has scored 26 goals this season for his club is being put on the standby list.
