The Weeknd has made it known that he will boycott the Grammy Awards from now on. The popular musician has reportedly said that he will no longer allow his record label to submit his music to the Grammys.

The Weeknd's decision comes after the Recording Academy failed to nominate even a single record from his latest album, After Hours. The album is one of the superstar's greatest projects and it was well-received across the globe. It had hits such as Blinding Lights and Save Your Tears.

In a statement shared with the New York Times, the musician said he will boycott the awards "because of the secret committees".

"I will no longer allow my label to submit my music to the Grammys."

Reacting to the news, interim chief executive of the Recording Academy, Harvey Mason Jr said the institution will continue to improve itself amid mounting criticism.

The Recording Academy took to Twitter on Tuesday afternoon, November 24 and revealed that the South African Emmy-award winning comedian will host the prestigious awards on March 14, 2021. The event was originally scheduled for January 31, but the Recording Academy postponed the ceremony to March 14.
