Liverpool goalkeeper Alisson Becker is reportedly devastated as he is yet to find a means of returning to Brazil for the funeral of his late father.
It was gathered that the goalkeeper has made a heartbreaking decision to remain in the UK following the coronavirus protocols which has prevented him from travelling.
Father of the star, Jose Agostinho, drowned on Wednesday afternoon, February 24, in a lake on the family’s ranch somewhere in the southern part of Brazil.
His body was discovered around midnight right at the bank of the river after friends and employees had searched for him.
Late Agostino who was a real estate broker reportedly travelled alone to the family’s rural holiday property where there is no mobile phone signal.
It was gathered that his wife Magali lived behind their house in Novo Hamburgo which is about 220 miles away.
Tragically, he went to the ranch because he believed the isolated home would be safer as coronavirus sweeps southern Brazil, and after strict lockdown measures were imposed on the state of Rio Grande do Sul a week ago.
After receiving the devastating news on Wednesday night, Alisson, who would speak to his dad every day, was determined to return to Brazil.
But according to a source at Sport Clube Internacional in Porto Alegre, the top-flight club where he played before leaving for Europe.
