Popular actor, Arnold Schwarzenegger, has said President Donald Trump will go down in history as the worst US president.

The former Republican governor made the statement in a video posted on Twitter on Sunday, January 10.

He compared the riot that occurred at the Capitol Hill rampage to Kristallnacht, the night in November 1938 when Nazi thugs attacked Jewish Germans and their property.

The actor accused Trump of attempting to overturn the results of a fair election. He said the president sought a coup by misleading people with lies.

Schwarzenegger recalled his experiences growing up in Austria after World War II to what he was witnessing in the United States.

Unlike Trump, this key US official will attend Joe Biden's inauguration

He said his father and his neighbours were misled with lies into supporting the Nazi government.

According to him, he grew up surrounded by men who drank away their guilt over their participation in the most evil regime in history.

He said:

My father and our neighbors were misled also with lies,” he said. And I know where such lies lead.”

The actor stated that people responsible for the riot at the Capitol should be accountable.

In a call for bipartisanship, Schwarzenegger underscored the need for the nation’s healing.

He also compared American democracy to a weapon he wielded onscreen in the loincloth of Conan the Barbarian nearly 40 years ago.

The actor stated that American democracy will become stronger just as a sword forged in fire.

Schwarzenegger wished the incoming Biden administration well in the interest of America.

Meanwhile, the Speaker of the United States' House of Representatives, Nancy Pelosi, has told President Donald Trump to resign following the Capitol violence which led four people dead.
