Grammys postponed due to COVID-19 fears
- The Grammys were set to take place at the end of January but will now be held in March

The 63rd annual Grammy Awards have been postponed due to concerns over the spread of COVID-19.
The prestigious event which was set to take place on Sunday, January 31, will now air on Sunday, March 14, approximately a month and a half later.
In a statement put out on Tuesday, January 5, the Recording Academy said the rescheduling came about "after thoughtful conversations with health experts, the host and artistes" set to perform at the event.

The report, shared on their website, noted that this had come after observations were made on the COVID-19 situation in Los Angeles, US, with hospitals being overwhelmed and ICUs reaching full capacity.
There were new guidelines from the state and local government that also led to the decision with the Grammys saying they had to ensure the safety of the artistes and those that produce the show.
The organisers thanked everyone that was to be involved for their patience as they work on ensuring the show is aired with a few attendees.

According to Rolling Stones, Grammy had planned on a limited show, only allowing presenters and performers on site.
The nominees would have not been allowed on-site thus leading to winners receiving their awards remotely.
Legit.ng had earlier reported that South African comedian Trevor Noah was set to host the event.
Tiffany Haddish also revealed that she had turned down an offer to host the Grammy's pre-show.
The actress said she could not accept the gig because the organisation asked her to pay for everything.

She said the Recording Academy asked her to host a three-hour telecast ahead of the main ceremony but would not get paid.
On top of not getting a cent for hosting the pre-show, Tiffany was surprised when she was further told that she would have to pay for her own hair, makeup and wardrobe costs.
The star expressed that the Grammy's offer was "disrespectful".
