The ruling party granted a waiver to some persons who recently joined its fold, making them eligible to contest elections on its platform, Punch reported.

Among those who will benefit from this waiver are Governor David Umahi of Ebonyi and Yakubu Dogara, a former speaker of the House of Representatives.

Still on politics, the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has reacted to the dissolution of the APC structures nationwide.

The opposition party in a statement by Kola Ologbondiyan, its spokesman asked the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) to officially deregister Nigeria's ruling party.

He argued that the APC no longer has an operational structure required by law.

Ologbondiyan alleged that the weight of failure, as well as corruption, economic recession and hardship forced the APC to exit itself from the nation’s atmosphere.
