Governor Umahi sacks two political aides in Ebonyi

- Two aides, coordinators of Ivo and Echiele centres in Ebonyi, were sacked on Thursday, November 26

- This is coming days after Governor Umahi defected to the ruling party APC in what is said to be part of his 2023 plan

- The governor has, however, dismissed claims that he dumped the PDP to achieve his 2023 presidency ambition

Governor Dave Umahi of Ebonyi has relieved two of his political aides of their duties in what looks like the aftermath of his defection.

The two aides, Okorie Daniel and Fabian Ovoke, were given a marching order on Thursday, November 26, by the governor.

Legit.ng gathers that the two sacked aides are the coordinators of Ivo and Echiele development centres in Ebonyi state.

Kenneth Ugbala, secretary to the state government, announced Daniel and Ovoke's removal from office via a state-owned radio. The reason for their sack was not revealed.

The sacked aides have been told to hand over "all government property in their possession to SSG" and ensure strict compliance with the directive, The Punch reports.

“His Excellency, the Governor of Ebonyi State, Engr Dr David Nweze Umahi, FNSE, FNATE, has approved the removal from office of the following Coordinators of Development Centers in Ebonyi State: Okorie Daniel of Ivo D/C; and Fabian Ivoke of Echiele D/C."

Umahi's commissioner resigns

Earlier, it was reported that one of the Ebonyi state governor's commissioners resigned in the person of Lazarus Ogbee.

The intergovernmental affairs commissioner announced his resignation in a letter to the governor.

Meanwhile, Chika Nwoba, spokesperson of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Ebonyi, resigned from his position moments after Governor Dave Umahi formally announced his defection to the party.

Nwoba in a statement expressed gratitude to the APC and its leaders for finding him worthy to be elected to the position in 2018, at the age of 27.

“I cannot work with Ebonyi State Governor, David Umahi," the APC chieftain said while breaking the silence on why he quit being the APC Ebonyi state publicity secretary.
