US election 2020: Joe Biden widens lead over Trump, wins two more states

- Biden is inching closer to winning the 2020 US presidential poll as he wins two more states, Wisconsin and Michigan

- The Democratic Party's presidential candidate leads with 1,630,389 votes while Trump follows with 1,609,879 in Wisconsin

Joe Biden, the presidential candidate of the Democratic Party in the 2020 US election, has extended his early lead over President Donald Trump of the Republican Party.

A report by Aljazeera indicates that the AP has called Wisconsin in favour of Biden, giving him the 10 electoral votes of the key battleground state.

Biden has also been called to win in Michigan. With 96 per cent of the vote counted in the state so far, Biden held a roughly 46,000 vote edge over Trump, a lead of about one percentage point, according to Aljazeera.

The Democrats' candidate now has 264 electoral votes ahead of Trump who has 214.

CNN has also projected Biden as the winner in the key battleground state. According to its figures, Biden currently leads with 1,630,389 (49.4%) votes while Trump follows with 1,609,879 (48.8%).

Legit.ng notes that vote counting is still ongoing in some battleground states and no candidate has been declared winner yet.

However, as it stands at the time of this report, Biden only needs six more electoral votes to emerge winner of the poll.

Meanwhile, the campaign organisation of President Donald Trump has said it will request for the recount of votes in Wisconsin.

Earlier, Legit.ng reported that President Trump cast doubt on the vote-counting process in the US presidential election as he made an allegation of voter fraud.
