The candidate of the Democratic Party in the ongoing presidential election in the United States, Joe Biden, has set a new impressive record as votes counting continues.
A report by Aljazeera indicates that Biden who is leading President Donald Trump has garnered most votes than ever.
Legit.ng gathers that he has broken the record set by former US president Barack Obama, his former boss, for the most votes cast in a presidential election in the US.
Obama who earned 69,498,516 votes has now been surpassed by Biden who has garnered 70,427,609 while votes counting is still ongoing at the time of filing this report.
Meanwhile, Biden has set up an emergency situation room to verify the presidential election result.
The former vice president made this known in a tweet shared via his official Twitter handle on Wednesday, November 4, as Americans anxiously wait for the final result.
He went on to note that the action was to ensure that every vote during the election is counted, adding that his opponent, the incumbent US President Trump doesn’t get to decide the outcome of the poll.
The presidential candidate who is in the early lead had earlier delivered a strong message to the American people hours before the voting began.
Biden while speaking during his final campaign rally in Pittsburgh on Monday night, November 2, expressed optimism that they were all coming together for a big win.
He added that nothing is going to stop the country from voting.
