Biography

Shaggy was born on 22nd October 1968 in Kingston, Jamaica. What is Shaggy real name? He was born as Orville Richard Burrell.

How old is Shaggy? The singer is 52 years old as of 2020. He is the son of Clinton Burrell and Lorraine Miller. His mother worked as a medical secretary.

His parents relocated to Brooklyn, New York City and settled there when he was seven years old. In 1987, Shaggy started attending singing classes. A year later, he was discovered together with his friends as they were singing within the streets of New York City.

Military career

In 1988, Shaggy joined the United States Marine Corps. He was given the Military Occupation Specialty of 0811 Field Artillery Cannon Crewman. He served with a Field Artillery Battery in the 10th Marine Regiment at the time of the Persian Gulf War.

While in the military, lance corporal was the highest rank Shaggy ever attained. However, he was reduced in rank twice. He perfected his signature singing voice while serving in the Marine Corps.

Shaggy musician is happily married to his long-term girlfriend, Rebecca Packer. After dating for 16 years, the duo tied the knot on 12th July 2014. The wedding ceremony was held at Goldeneye in Oracabessa, Jamaica.

Rebecca Packer hails from Dundalk, and she is half-Irish and half-Jamaican. She is an art director of film and videos. Rebecca is also the co-producer of Shaggy and Friends charity concert.
