Protests: Doyin Okupe asks Nigerian youths to negotiate with FG
- A former spokesman to ex-President Goodluck Jonathan, Doyin Okupe has spoken on the #EndSARS protests
- Okupe, a medical doctor turned politician, advised the protesters to commence negotiating with Nigerian authorities
- According to him, the protesting youths must ensure they gain maximally from the protests by negotiating with the government

Doyin Okupe, a former presidential media aide, has asked Nigerian youths under the #EndSARS movement to halt their protests and start the process of negotiating with the federal government.
Okupe, 68, gave the counsel to the protesting youths via a Facebook post on Friday, October 16.
He, however, noted that the youths have done well with the protests, adding that the whole nation is proud of their efforts.
He said with what they have accomplished with the protests, they must gain maximally from it by negotiating with the authorities.

His words:
“I want to particularly ask you to note that in all dealings with governments and sovereignties worldwide and throughout all history, including wars, everything ends on the negotiating table. Yes, it all and always ends up on the table.
“You must be ready to go to table soonest lest you lose your momentum and colossal gains and citizens support.
“Please observe that the government has demonstrated ready acquiesces to virtually all your demands. Secondly, it is obvious they have also adopted a policy of non-interference with your protests. Please never for one imagine that you have cowed government.”
He further stated that in negotiating with the government, the youths need:
1. A leadership structure.
2. A well-articulated compilation of their demands which must be comprehensive and addressing all areas where leadership and government have failed over the years.
He also urged them to categorize their demands into three stages:
1. Immediate
2. Short time (Within 6 to 12 months) and
3. Long term.
He added:
“To choose leadership will be a challenge to you because I believe this was not on your menu.
“I advise you to employ technology which you are quite versed in. Create a platform wherein each state, those who want to offer themselves can be registered with their CVs and biodata.
“Choose a date and let all your folks who must have registered on line to vote, vote for them. Pick the first 10 or 12 or any number you choose to constitute your state leaders. All state leaders so elected will come together virtually or physically and select national leaders.”
Meanwhile, a group, Coalition Save Nigeria (CSN) has called on Nigerian youths to halt the #EndSARS protests currently ongoing across cities in Nigeria.
The protests, the coalition said has been hijacked by disgruntled politicians for personal or political gains.
