Kylian Mbappe will not be fielded when France take on Croatia at the ongoing UEFA Nations League and will also miss Paris Saint-Germain's season opener after testing positive for coronavirus.

No fewer than seven PSG players have tested positive for the infection in the last seven days including Mbappe's partner Neymar.

According to the French Football Federation (FFF) after tests were carried out ahead of the game against Croatia, Mbappe's result was positive.

He scored the winning goal in a 1-0 win away at Sweden on Saturday, September 5.

A statement from the FFF read via Sky Sports: "Kylian Mbappé will not participate in France-Croatia, Tuesday evening at 8:45 p.m. at the Stade de France.

"The result of his Covid-19 test, carried out by UEFA on Monday morning, was found to be positive, he was placed away from the group after receiving the results, at the end of training, before regaining his home in the evening.

‌"Like the entire delegation, Kylian Mbappé had undergone a test prior to meeting. The result was negative, like the one last Wednesday, at the request of UEFA."

This is coming less than a week that Neymar alongside Angel Di Maria and Leandro Paredes tested positive for the dreaded infection as their statuses were confirmed on September 2.

It was gathered that the Brazilian star and Paredes have been grooving on island Ibiza as the news have now thrown the club into chaos ahead of their first league game in eight days time.

The French champions were given extended rest after they reached the Champions League final in Lisbon.

Although the 2020/2021 Ligue 1 season returned on August 21, PSG will not taste action until their first away game at Lens on September 10. The fixture is now threatened as players will be tested regularly in the coming days.

Meanwhile, Legit.ng earlier reported that Neymar and Mbappe have been described as the two best players in the world according to Paris Saint Germain director Leonardo.

He is backing both players to remain at the club Leonardo further claimed that both stars are the two best players in the world at the moment, apart from Cristiano Ronaldo and Lionel Messi.
