The ruling party, All Progressives Congress (APC), has said the current President Muhammadu Buhari-led government has commenced the implementation of the 2014 national confab report.

APC made this disclosure in its September edition of “The Progressives”, its monthly journal published in collaboration with the Progressive Governors’ Forum (PGF), Vanguard reports.

The ruling party also revealed that the move is to recognise the efforts put in place by the administration of former president Goodluck Ebele Jonathan which facilitated the national conference in 2014.

“It must be said that the calls for restructuring by many partisans is often time a populist and opportunistic ploy to latch on and politically exploit simplistic public narratives on the panacea to Nigeria’s problems and not necessarily for its realism and practicability.

"President Muhammadu Buhari has evidently and progressively begun restructuring the country in line with the 2015 election promise to ensure true federalism and devolution of powers," part of the statement read.

APC also berated Atiku Abubakar and the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), and accused them "of dubiously using selective and bespoke restructuring rhetoric for specific audiences during their campaigns."
