Breaking: Lagos announces dates for reopening of worship centres
- Friday, August 7, has been approved as the new date for the reopening of worship centres in Lagos
- The state government also scheduled Tuesday, August 4, for the reopening of schools for graduating classes

Amid spike in the Covid-19 cases, Lagos state government has announced that the ban on churches and mosques will be lifted effective from Friday, August 7.
Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu made this known on Saturday, August 1, in an address where he gave updates on the efforts of the state governments on Covid-19 crisis.
Sanwo-Olu also announced that schools will be reopened for students in the graduating classes in the state on Monday, August 3.
According to him, this will enable them to prepare for the national and region examinations including West African Senior School Certificate Examination (WASSCE) administered by the West Africa Examination Council (WAEC).

The governor also said that restaurants in Lagos will operate eat-in services effective from Friday, August 14.
Lagos government, it would be recalled, had imposed ban on worship centres (mosques and churches) due to the ravaging effect of the Covid-19 pandemic in the state and country.
Efforts to reopen worship centres and schools were frustrated in June as there was a sudden rise in confirmed cases of coronavirus infection recorded daily.
Lagos currently has 15, 121 total cases as at Friday, July 31, when the Nigeria Centre for Disease Control (NCDC) reported 78 new infections in the state.

Meanwhile, Legit.ng reported that in the spirit of Sallah celebration, Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu of Lagos state on Friday, July 31, paid an unscheduled visit to some of the hospitals in the state.
The visit, according to the chief press secretary to the governor Gboyega Akosile, was made "to share memorable moments with the in-patients and health workers."
Sharing the video of the governor's visit to Lagos Island Maternity Hospital on his Twiter page on Saturday, Augst 1, Akosile said the unscheduled visit was also made by his principal in the spirit of patriotism and love.
