- A group of Nigerian youths has reacted to the alleged assault on President Muhammadu Buhari from the spokesman of CUPP, Ikenga Imo Ugochinyere
- The group said that the call by Ugochinyere to force out the present administration is a move in the wrong direction
- The coalition demanded an apology from the spokesman for insulting not just the president but also the country
The spokesman of the Coalition of United Political Parties (CUPP), Ikenga Imo Ugochinyere, has been slammed for calling on youths to force out the current administration.
The reaction came from a coalition of bodies on the platform of League of Nigerian Youth Groups which described the call as a recipe for anarchy and backdown of order in the country and as such warned Ugochinyere to watch his speech against President Muhammadu Buhari, The Nation reports.
In a statement signed on Wednesday, July 1, the coalition decried the many verbal assaults on the president from Ugochinyere, saying it is being sponsored by some selfish politicians.
The group demanded an apology from the spokesman for insulting the president and referring to Nigeria as a woman.
It wrote: “We condemn his incisive words of calling on Nigerian youths to forcefully chase the present government out of power.
“We reject and demand an apology from him in describing Nigeria as a woman! This is an insult our sensibility as a country and also our Nigerian women who by his expression have described them as weaklings."
Meanwhile, Legit.ng reported that Bala Muhammad was at the verge of either being impeached or voluntarily relinquishing his seat as the governor of Bauchi state over a recent allegation of fraud against him.
The Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Commission (ICPC) had seized a multi-million naira property structure allocated to Muhammad, a property with rightfully belongs to the Ministry of Agriculture in the state.
Following this, the APC chapter has called on the governor to resign or face impeachment by the state House of Assembly.
The party said that this ugly development was enough reason for Muhammad to take this path of honour, which was to resign as is done in other more developed countries.
The APC said: "The APC is appalled by the scandalous reports of the seizure of a property, Plot 298, Wuye District, Abuja, linked to Governor Bala Muhammad (GB) by the ICPC.
"This appalling scandal would warrant a resignation or impeachment in saner climes. Thus, we hereby urge Mr. Governor to take the path of honour."
