The internal unrest in the All Progressive Congress (APC) has hit a sharp bend as the Rivers state chapter of the ruling party suspended its acting chairman Igo Aguma.
Aguma was suspended on Monday, June 22, over disobedience to the spirit and letters of the high court judgement that appointed him as the chairman.
Sokonte Davies, another party member, has now been appointed to take over in acting caretaker capacity in Rivers.
Aguma's suspension came on the heels of internal leadership crisis which has left the ruling party in shambles from national headquarters.
Meanwhile, Legit.ng reported that Victor Giadom, factional national chairman of the ruling APC party has described his suspension as a fluke and weak.
It would be recalled that the squabbles in the APC leadership ran into a sharp curve on Sunday, June 21, as Giadom was suspended by the Rivers state chapter of the ruling party.
Giadom who imposed himself as the chairman of the party after Adams Oshiomhole's suspension was upheld by an appeal court amid ranging crises in APC, was sanctioned over allegations of gross disobedience to the APC constitution.
Reacting to his suspension, the former deputy national secretary described the sanction as "ineffective and contemptuous."
Giadom, who spoke through his lawyer Oluwole Afolabi, insisted that the suspension is in contempt with a subsisting court order affirming him as the acting chairman of the ruling party.
