Agboola Ajayi, embattled deputy governor of Ondo state, has packed his property out of his official residence hours after parting ways with the All Progressive Congres (APC).
Legit.ng recalls that Agboola had on Sunday, June 21, bid goodbye to the APC after months of an extended political rift between him and Governor Rotimi Akeredolu.
Agboola latter announced his defection to the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), after tendering his resignation letter at his APC ward in Ese-Odo local government area of Ondo state.
The embattled deputy governor and the Ondo governor have been enmeshed in messy altercations recently over the control of the state.
Their relationship hit the rock following Governor Akeredolu's declaration to seek re-election.
The rift between the governor and his deputy intensified on Saturday, June 20, as Governor Akeredolu allegedly prevented Agboola from leaving the state house with government's cars.
Agboola, who is eyeing the state's biggest stool, is said to have obtained PDP nomination form and is expected to officially declare his interest ahead of the primary election.
The embattled deputy governor has accused Governor Akeredolu of using the police operatives to intimidate him after he was prevented from taking his official cars from the government house premises.
Amid specks of dust, Agboola said that he remains the deputy governor of the state despite the irreconcilable difference that pitched him against his boss.
“It is a painful thing that I am leaving the APC, but there is time for everything. As a Nigerian, I have the fundamental freedom to belong to any party or group," Agboola said as he left the ruling party ahead of the state election.
