7 people on funeral trip die in Anambra car accident

Seven people have lost their lives in a motor accident on their way to a funeral ceremony on the Ogidi-Abatete road in Idemili local government area of Anambra state.

According to Vanguard, several other people also sustained injuries in the accident, which happened on Friday, June 12.

Legit.ng gathers that the accident was confirmed by the sector public education officer of the Federal Road Safety Corps, Pascal Anigbo.

The fatal accident involved a Mercedes-Benz tipper loaded with sand and a 608 bus carrying 19 passengers.

According to an eyewitness, the tipper rammed into the bus following a tyre burst, which resulted in loss of control.

The bus was conveying members of a family to the burial ceremony when it collided with the tipper lorry.

In other news, ex-Big Brother Naija housemate Khafi Kareem has lost her brother Alexander Kareem who was gunned down close to their family house in London.

According to The Sun, Alexander was shot dead close to his family home in Shepherd’s Bush, West London.

He was said to be walking home from a convenience store in the early hours of Monday morning, June 8, before he was shot dead.

A friend told The Sun: “His family is distraught. Alex wouldn’t talk down to anyone – he was friends with everybody.

“They are all good people. His sister Khafi spreads positivity through her YouTube account. She wakes up and prays for people at 7.30 every morning.

“Alex’s brother is trying to get back from Australia to grieve with the rest of his family, his mum is completely devastated.”

Meanwhile, Legit.ng previously reported that the Economic and Financial Crime Commission (EFCC) said the agency was not involved in the arrest of popular Nigerian Instagram celebrity, Raymond Igbalodely popularly known as Hushpuppi.

The disclosure was made by the chairman of the anti-graft agency, Ibrahim Magu, Premium Times reports.

Hushpuppi was arrested in the United Arab Emirates (UAE) alongside his colleagues by International Police (Interpol) and the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) for alleged fraud.
