Manchester United legend Ryan Giggs is delighted with Odion Ighalo's decision to extend his stay at Old Trafford till January 2021.

The 30-year-old joined the Red Devils from Shanghai Shenhua earlier this year on a six months deal but has now prolonged his reign at the club with another temporary deal.

Since he joined them in the first month of 2020, the Nigerian star has scored four goals and one assist in eight appearances across competitions.

His arrival has also sparked up positive vibes in United's dressing room, with Ole Gunnar Solskjaer showing special interest in him.

However, Giggs believes the former Super Eagles is a different breed of centre-forward with his ability to score goals whenever he is given the opportunity.

“He’s different, he’s a center-forward whereas the other players can play out wide,” Giggs was quoted in Sky Sports.

He gives you something extra off the bench when he’s not starting. Centre forwards always want to score goals, he’s done that everywhere he has gone.

It’s positive that he is able to stay because he has done well. He makes an impact when he’s on the pitch.”

Giggs further stated that he likes the attitude Bruno Fernandes who also joined the club almost the same time as Ighalo is showing.

He added that it was too early to draw any comparisons on his impact at United with that of club icon Eric Cantona.

Giggs said: “Ole’s signings have been good, not only as players but they are good people. Fernandes coming in has given everyone a lift, it’s an exciting end to the season.

It’s early doors to be talking about the players who have come in and made an impact [such as Eric Cantona] but certainly he’s off to a great start.

He’s made players around him better and has just fitted in straight away. That’s always what you pray for when a new signing comes in.

He looks a good guy as well, he wants to play for the club. He’s exciting when he receives the ball he will try things, if something doesn’t come off he will try it again, he’s brilliant to watch.

He’s given everyone a lift, the players around him, the staff, the fans. A really positive start but a long way to go yet.”

Legit.ng earlier reported that Manchester United striker Odion Ighalo has vowed to walk out the pitch if he gets any form of racial abuse again in his career and the referee does nothing about it.

Racial abuse is the latest talk everywhere in the world and not because it is new, but how African-American George Floyd was killed made thousands angry and frustrated.

George Floyd was arrested by American police who gave him no chance to defend himself in which one of them even knelt on his neck until he passed out.
