- Oghenekaro Etebo has completed a loan move to Getafe from Stoke City
- The Spanish La Liga side and the player took to social media to confirm the news
- Etebo played 11 games this season for Stoke City before leaving the club
Nigeria international Oghenekaro Etebo has completed a loan move to Spanish club Getafe on loan from English side Stoke City.
The move was made after the 24-year-old failed to get active playing time at Stoke City, and he will now be at Getafe for the rest of the 2019/20 League season.
When former Stoke City manager Nathan Jones was in charge, Oghenekaro Etebo was a prominent member of the squad before he fell out of favor when O’Neil took over.
And after the retirement of Markel Bergara at Getafe due to injury, the club were looking for a capable replacement before they went for Etebo.
This season, the former Warri Wolves has played 11 games for Stoke City, who are currently occupying 21st position on the English Championship standings.
Etebo joined Stoke City from Portuguese side CD Fierense for €7.2m in the summer of 2018 having previously spent time on loan at Spanish outfit Las Palmas.
Getafe currently occupy the seventh position on the Spanish La Liga standings with 30 points after 19 games played this term.
Meanwhile, Etebo was superb for the Super Eagles in their campaign at the 2019 African Nations Cup where they won the bronze medal.
Earlier, Legit.ng had reported how Nigerian football star Kelechi Iheanacho showed once again why he deserves first-team spot at Leicester after coming on in the second half to score a crucial goal for his side.
The 23-year-old scored the only goal that helped the Foxes avoid outright defeat in the first leg of their EFL Cup semifinal clash against Aston Villa at the King Power Stadium on Wednesday night, January 8.
