President Muhammadu Buhari has sent his congratulatory message to the prime minister of the United Kingdom following his victory at the general elections.

The president pointed out that the UK has remained usual supporter of Nigeria right from inception especially in the areas of security and recovery of looted public funds.

President Buhari said that he anticipates a stronger relationship with the country under Johnson's leadership.

Earlier, Legit.ng reported that UK's conservatives had won the country's election which ended late Thursday, December 12, night.

Johnson's conservative party won the election with at least 326 seats which is very much enough to guarantee a majority of the votes cast.

Johnson clung on the seat after the controversial Brexit winning seats from Jeremy Corbyn’s Labour party in its traditional heartlands.

Reacting to the results of the election, Corbyn condemned media on him and the Labour party. He said that the Labour party's policies made available to the public had been extremely popular, contrary to what the media portrayed.

Also, the leader of the National Party, Nicola Sturgeon, said that Scotland has a renewed, refreshed and strengthened mandate for a new independence referendum.
