The return of some pilgrims from from Saudi Arabia to Nigeria have been disrupted over jet A1 fuel scarcity.
Daily Trust reports that the scarcity of the Jet A1 slowed down the airlifting of passengers who have concluded the Hajj in Saudi Arabia as the Nigerian carriers participating in the exercise are facing difficulties getting aviation fuel to run their aircraft.
It was gathered that the aviation fuel scarcity which started in the beginning of the week is affecting outbound flight belonging to Skypower Express Airlines, a charter operator who participated in the hajj exercise.
Also,about 265 pilgrims who were to be conveyed by Skypower were delayed at King Abdul-Aziz International Airport, Jeddah before they were eventually airlifted.
The passengers were said to have landed on Friday, August 30, at about 7.45 hours.
Confirming the incident, the chief executive office of Skypower Express Airlines, Captain Muhammed Joji, said the airline could not purchase fuel in Lagos and Kano.
Joji said the airline had to buy the aviation fuel at a higher price to be able to airlift the pilgrims.
Meanwhile, Legit.ng previously reported that no fewer that 65,000 Nigerian pilgrims from Nigeria were in Saudi Arabi for the 2019 Hajj.
This information was disclosed by the National Hajj Commission of Nigeria (NAHCON) on Tuesday, August 6.
