Strike: Get ready for the biggest industrial action - NASU, SSANU threaten FG

- There are indications that an indefinite strike across Nigerian universities will take place soon

- This is as the Non-Academic Staff Union (NASU) and the Senior Staff Association of Nigeria Universities (SSANU) have threatened the federal government in this regard

- The unions said that the federal government has failed to show commitment towards settling pending issues

The Non-Academic Staff Union (NASU) and the Senior Staff Association of Nigeria Universities (SSANU) on Thursday, August 22, threatened the federal government that they will embark on an indefinite industrial action soon.

The threat was disclosed by Solomon Alfa, SSANU’s national vice president, to journalists in Abuja during a press conference, Channels TV reports.

Both unions, after their five-day warning strike, told the federal government to brace up for what they described as the “mother of all strikes”. This is coming at the end of the one-week warning strike issued by NASU and SSANU.

According to the unions, the federal government had failed to show commitment towards settling pending issues, one of which is the payment of earned allowances to their members.

Earlier, Legit.ng reported that Nigerian university workers had announced a warning strike from Monday, August 19, to express their grievances over the federal government's failure to meet their demands.

Recall that this came four months after the Academic Staff Union of Nigerian Universities (ASUU) suspended its two-month strike.

According to SSANU and NASU, 14-day ultimatum was given to the federal government.
