Man miraculously turns life around and starts his own business
- A young lad, Loyiso Basso, fell victim to a life of crime and dru'gs, but somehow broke free and turned his life around

- Basso had to slowly regain people’s trust and cleaned yards to slowly save up enough capital to get his business off the ground
Loyiso Basso fell victim to a life of crime and dru'gs, and so nearly became another statistic as poverty and negative influences in his township sucked him in.
Somehow, Basso reached a turning point after growing tired of making his mother suffer and allowing his life to waste away.
Inspired by his passion for cooking, Basso started his own restaurant two years ago.

He started Mgoli’s Corner in an RDP house in his township of Khayelitsha in Cape Town, South Africa.The 30-year-old prepares the meals in his back room and serves lunch and supper.
GroundUp reported that the road to redemption was not an easy one for Basso when he first came up with the idea in 2015.
He struggled to find employment due to his criminal record and eventually decided to clean people’s backyards to generate capital.
Basso said: “I had to convince people that I am changed, and I did not blame them for closing their door in my face. I deserved it.”
Legit.ng understands that the young man pursued his dream by first purchasing a gas stove and other kitchen utensils.
The humble combination of pap and chakalaka was his one and only offering, but he slowly expanded his menu.
Basso takes pride in being able to assist his mother with essentials and also revealed he’s been clean for years.
The entrepreneur shared some good advice for the African youth when he said: “Young people, swallow your pride and do something positive with your lives. If there is still air that flows in and out of your body, it means there is still a purpose for you in this world.”
Meanwhile, British-born Nigerian writer, Tade Thompson, emerged winner of Arthur C Clarke award, the UK’s most prestigious prize for science fiction novels. The award which was presented at a ceremony in Foyles bookshop in London included a trophy and N906,000 cash prize. Thompson won the award for his novel, Rosewater.
