Meet Ebenezer Oguntade, the male nurse who is also an actor

Ebenezer Oguntade, a Nigerian male nurse who also has an acting career, has spoken about his life choices and how he has been able to manage the two broad aspects. In his interview with Legit TV, the young man shared his experiences dealing with female patients.

Oguntade who hails from Igbeti in Oyo state took correspondents of Legit.ng through his routine as an actor and a nurse. According to the young man who is the last born of his family, his siblings had dreams of becoming nurses but could not achieve it. He wanted his story to be different and pursued that dream with the whole of his heart.

Legit.ng got to know that nursing became the dream of the fine young man after his uncle, a practicing nurse outside the country, encouraged him to follow suit. Since he grew up in Igbeti, he had his primary and secondary school education there and proceeded to the school of nursing in Ogbomoso. After this, the young man moved to Lagos where he got a job in a hospital and was given the chance to practice.

During the interview, Oguntade revealed he is not all about nursing as he also has passion for acting. His first chance at acting came in 2018 after he got a job and was already practicing as a nurse. He was a set-nurse at a movie location when he was given a minor role. This made him feature in Ajoche, a television series aired on DSTV.

Oguntade told Legit.ng crew that his ability to crack jokes and help people get better emotionally and psychologically made many think he would be a great actor if given the chance. He explained that being friendly and sharing jokes is his own way of getting to know his patients and helping them get better. It also gives him the chance of knowing their state of mind when he is taking care of them.

The male nurse said that juggling the two aspects comes with certain challenges; sometimes he has to be at a movie location for a long time and must not let this affect his duties as a nurse. In cases where he cannot work as a set-nurse because he has to be at the hospital, he guides them at the location via phone calls.

As an actor, Oguntade revealed that he found it difficult being in front of the camera at first. Later he discovered that he was being hindered from moving on to the next lines because of the ‘h’ factor. This almost discouraged him from acting but he was being encouraged to keep trying.

As a nurse, dealing with ladies is a little tricky as the fine young man revealed that some women often mistake his kindness for a lead on. He shared his encounter with a lady who wanted to kiss him openly while he was on duty. To him, ladies like this find him cute and alluring when he is nice and being cautious. He then went on to say it is not a deliberate thing on his part.

He also stated that he is not in a relationship at the moment as he does not like being distracted. Women according to him crave attention and he may not be able to give them that. Nursing remains the passion of Oguntade as he stressed that he is not ready to leave it totally for acting. He does not mind being given more acting roles in as much as it does not affect him taking care of his patients.
