Wole Soyinka responds to plane seat brouhaha through Mo Abudu

- Following the brouhaha surrounding the plane seat incidence between Nigerian scholar Wole Soyinka and a young man, the professor has spoken out

- In an email sent to media mogul, Mo Abudu, he revealed that he never exchanged a word with the young man other than when he asked him to take his seat

- The email came after a man claimed to be passenger who took his seat and and said he went on to have a chat with Soyinka

It has been a couple of hours and social media is still buzzing with mixed reactions over the plane seat incidence between a young man and Wole Soyinka. Following this and reports of a man claiming to be the passenger in question who took back his seat and went on to have a chat with the professor, Soyinka has responded.

In a brief email which he sent to media mogul, Mo Abudu, the professor stated that although he considered it a minor incident and had forgotten about it, the fact that the man claiming to be the passenger said he had a chat with him got him curious as nothing of that sort happened.

The post reads: "Someone sent me Patrick Tonye's comment on the plane incident, and I saw your brief comment. It was a very minor thing and I'd forgotten all about it. However, after reading the boy's response, I became curious. First, I never exchanged a word with him throughout beyond inviting him to take his allotted seat. Never spoke a word to him after that. Certainly never exchanged contact."

"So of course, I wonder if it's the very individual who's posted this or a total fake. The phenomenon of stolen identities takes very strange dimensions and has become a source of worry. I wonder if this is one such. Any way of your finding out. I don't operate in the social media as you probably recall. WS"
