A ranking senator of the All Progressives Congress (APC) who is seeking to emerge as president of the 9th Senate has started lobbying newly-elected colleagues on the platform of the opposition Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).

According to the report, the deal was revealed on Saturday, May 4 by those close to the PDP senators-elect.

The report quoted one of the newly elected lawmakers as confirming to a ranking senator that he had been asked to submit a N200million worth constituency project despite not being sworn in yet.

The aspirant however appears to only be interested in opposition senators-elect as none of the new lawmakers of the ruling APC have reportedly been approached.

"I am aware that some of my colleagues have been accorded this gesture but so far none of us in the APC has been approached," an APC senator-elect volunteered, noting the reason might be because APC lawmakers are sticking with the party's choice of Senate leader Ahmed Lawan.

Gbajabiamila gathered members-elect from across the political divides in Abuja to sell his manifestoes to them and unveil his game plan for the forthcoming election for the principal officers of the National Assembly slated for next month.
