Buhari swears-in Prof Owasanoye as new ICPC chairman

President Muhammadu Buhari has sworn in a new chairman and board members of the Independent Corrupt Practices and other Related Offences Commission (ICPC).

The presidency in a statement on Monday, February 4, stated that the new ICPC chairman is Prof Bolaji Owasanoye, who previously served as the executive secretary of the Presidential Advisory Committee Against Corruption (PACAC).

In a related report, Owasanoye has said President Muhammadu Buhari’s administration is not a safe haven for people with stolen money or looted assets.

Owasanoye in his paper at a one-day conference on Nigeria’s foreign policy under President Muhammadu Buhari administration (2015-2019) held at Nigerian Institute of International Affairs (NIIA), Lagos on Thursday, January 31.

The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that the paper was entitled war against corruption and Nigeria’s foreign policy.

Meanwhile, the Forward with Buhari (FWB), an independent campaign organisation for President Muhammadu Buhari’s re-election bid, has said that there was no alternative to Buhari in the coming election.

Senator Lawali Shuaibu, national coordinator of the organisation, who is also the deputy national chairman (north), the All Progressives Congress (APC) said this in a statement on Monday, February 3, in Abuja, the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports

He said the organisation had, however, embarked on an intensive grassroots campaign across the six geopolitical zones of the country to convince Nigerians on why they should re-elect President Buhari.
