In most parts of the world, men are regarded as the breadwinners of the family and they are charged with providing for the home. However, unforeseen circumstances can change the order of things.

Legit.ng recently gathered the report of two teenage sisters, Jyoti and Neha Kumari, who disguised as young boys to take over their father’s barber shop.

Their father, Dhruv Narayan, became bedridden with a paralysis stroke and could no longer provide for his family.

To fill the void his sickness had caused, his two daughters, Jyoti and Neha, decided to stand in for him at the shop. To avoid being bashed, they cut their hair short and also wore steel bracelets. To complete the transformation, they changed their names to a masculine one.

The girls who were 13 and 11 respectively at the time they changed identities started identifying as Deepak and Rahu. They maintained the charade for four years.

They were very diligent at their work that they were able to make enough money to pay for their father’s treatment and take care of the home.

After years passed and their relationship with customers grew, the young girls became confident enough to stop identifying as boys.

In an interview with Hindustan Times, one of the sisters, Neha, explained that some of their family members do not think their work is dignifying and that she would love to open a beauty parlour. She said: "Today, we do not need to hide our identity as everyone know us. Our relatives still feel that this work lacks dignity. I now want to switch to beauty parlour business which is today a source of dignified livelihood to thousands of women in India".

Their sick father also revealed that he is very proud of his daughters who are now 18 and 16 years old. Their noble act is quite commendable. Cheers to them.
