For playing a role in the emergence of Rochas Okorocha as governor of Imo state in 2011 on the platform of All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA), the lawmaker representing Anambra Central senatorial district in the Senate, Chief Victor Umeh, has asked God for forgiveness.

Umeh, who asked for forgiveness on Sunday, July 15, described Okorocha as an evil who had become an island unto himself, adding that the governor had become “a pain in the neck of his people", Punch reports.

Legit.ng gathers that during his reign as the chairman of APGA in 2011, Umeh led members of the party to Imo state to campaign for Okorocha after he was given the party ticket. Okorocha won on the platform of APGA, but defected from the party to the All Progressives Congress.

Speaking during the inauguration of “Senator Victor Umeh Support Group” at Neni in the Anaocha local government area of Anambra state ahead of the 2019 general elections, Umeh faulted Okorocha's alleged impeachment plot against his deputy, Eze Madumere.

He recalled the role Madumere played before Okorocha was elected as governor of the state.

He said: “Madumere was even detained because he was fighting for Okorocha, only for the governor to want to impeach him because the governor wants his son-in-law to be governor of the state.”
