I was denied access to late MKO Abiola - Al-Mustapha

The chief security officer to the late military head of state, Sani Abacha, Hamza Al-Mustapha speaking on the death of M.K.O Abiola, acclaimed winner of the June 12, 1993 election called human rights lawyer, Femi Falana, a liar.

Legit.ng gathered that Al-Mustaphah during a programme People, Politics and Power on AIT said leaders of NADECO went to the Presidential Villa, Abuja to collect millions of dollars, barely 24 hours after Abiola’s death.

He said: “If Abiola was alive, he would have been one of my witnesses which I know won’t have happened, we should be looking at the larger issues. The questions is why should Abiola be killed and why should they be angry that I’m asking these questions?"

Al-Mustapha alleged that the late MKO Abiola was killed on July 8, 1998 at Aguda house and that money withdrawn from the Central Bank of Nigeria on July 9 in Dollars, Pounds and Naira was shared delibartely, adding that the money was delivered straight to the villa.

In 2017, the human rights lawyer called Al-Mustapha a “pathological liar” for claiming that he had tapes of how the presumed winner of the June 12, 1993 presidential election, was murdered.

Falana said the former CSO was trying to act as if he was nice to Abiola even when he made sure the latter was kept in detention.

Falana added that Al-Mustapha was feeling guilty conscience over the death of the wife of Abiola, Kudirat following the confessions of Sergeant Jabila Rogers at the Oputa Panel that he was ordered by Al-Mustapha to kill her.

In a previous report by Legit.ng, Abdulmumini Abiola, the son of late politician and 1993 president elect, Moshood Kashimawo Olawale Abiola, said those who killed his father are close to him.

Abiola said he believed in the present administration under Buhari to fish out killers of his father and bring them to justice.

Legit.ng learnt that Abiola's son, who lost both parents in the political turmoil of the 90's said it is shameful that years after his parent's deaths, Nigerians are still being regaled with several version of what led to their untimely death.
