Politicians allegedly planning protest at NASS on June 6

Reports reaching Legit.ng indicate that some politicians have allegedly mobilised some youths to protest against the National Assembly leadership.

The planned protest is believed to be a fall-out of the joint decision held by the House of Representatives and Senate on Tuesday, June 5, to invoke its parliamentary powers on the president if he fails to stop alleged harassment of perceived opponents and endless killing of citizens across the country.

Sources according to The Guardian this morning said that the planned protest is being sponsored by a governor from the northwest and spearheaded by Yahaya Bello.

The protest is also targeted at Senate president Bukola Saraki and speaker of the House of Representatives Yakubu Dogara who are seen as maintaining a growing opposition to President Muhammadu Buhari who the National Assembly accused of failing to rein in his security chiefs.

The joint session yesterday passed a vote of no confidence on Inspector General of Police Ibrahim Idris who they accused of disobeying state institutions including a summon by the Senate.

In a previous report by Legit.ng, the National Assembly on Tuesday, June 5, issued a warning to President Muhammadu Buhari, saying he must be held accountable for the actions of his appointees and must be ready to sanction those that carry out any act that will ridicule or endanger the country and democracy.
