President Buhari writes Senate, makes 5 fresh appointments

President Muhammadu Buhari has made five fresh appointments. The president disclosed this in a letter to the National Assembly on Wednesday, May 23.

The president urged the Senate to confirm the five people as non-executive directors of the board of Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN).

Disclosing the president's request on the floor of the Senate, Senator Ahmad Lawan raised the motion when he said: "That the Senate do consider the request of Mr President C-n-C for the confirmation of nomination of the following persons for appointment as non-executive directors of the board of Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN)."

The twitter handle of the Senate disclosed that Senator Godswill Akpabio seconded that the Senate do consider the request of President Buhari for the confirmation of nomination of the above persons for appointment as non-executive directors of the board of Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN).

1. Professor Ummu Ahmed Jalingo- northeast

2. Professor Justina Odinakachukwu Nnabuko- Southeast

3. Professor Mike I. Obadan- south-south

4. Dr. Abdu Abubakar- northwest

5. Adeola Adetunji- southWest

Meanwhile, Legit.ng had reported that President Muhammadu Buhari approved the appointment of five new executives for National Human Rights Commission (NHRC), Niger Delta Development Commission (NDDC) and Nigerian Electricity Regulatory Commission (NERC).

Olusegun Adekunle, the permanent secretary of the general services office with the Secretary to the Government of the Federation (OSGF), made this known in a statement on Thursday, April 26, in Abuja.

According to him, Anthony Ojukwu from Imo state is the new executive secretary, National Human Rights Commission (NHRC) with initial term of five years.

“Lucky Orimisan Aiyedatiwa, who hails from Ondo state, is the new executive director, Niger Delta Development Commission (NDDC) with initial term of four years.

“Hon Chika Ama-Nwauwa also from Imo state has been appointed the new executive director, Niger Delta Development Commission (NDDC) also with initial term of four years."
