APC finally suspends Muiz Banire for anti-party activities

- The All Progressives Congress (APC) mentioned some alleged sins against Muiz Banire, its legal adviser

- Banire, a Senior Advocate of Nigeria (SAN), has not reacted to the suspension by the APC

The ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) has finally handed its national legal adviser, Muiz Banire, suspension following allegations of anti-party activities.

Banire had been in a serious rift with some leaders of the party which he accused of imposition of candidates in elections as well as other actions that are injurious to APC’s successes.

He was accused of working against the party in the last local government election as well as suing a top party member.

Apart from these, he was also accused of inciting the public against the interest of the party, falsely accusing the party of imposition in public, disobeying and causing others to disobey the party’s directives.

Banire’s suspension, Legit.ng learnt, followed a recommendation by the Ward C, Ilasamaja, Mushin, Lagos, where he belongs.

Banire, a Senior Advocate of Nigeria (SAN), fell out with the party leaders after accusing them of imposition of candidates for last week’s local government elections in Lagos.

“After a critical assessment of individual activities and the performance of the party during the last elections, members of the party in Ward C, Ilasamaja Mushin unanimously voted for the immediate suspension of Mr Muiz Banire from participating in party activities in the ward and his removal from office as national legal adviser,” the acting secretary of his ward, Taofeek Ajani-Balogun, said.

Ajani-Balogun added that the party also decided to suspend its ward and local government chairmen and executive committee for performing below expectation during the last local government election in Lagos.

Banire was yet to react at the time of this report.

Legit.ng had earlier reported that Dr Muiz Banire (SAN) recently raised alarm saying that some party dictators wanted to kill him.

Banire made this known in a statement on Monday, July 17, alleged that he has received many life threatening messages form the dictators.
