According to him, the review was undergoing legislative process.

The minister acknowledged that what was being paid as allowances to corps members today had become grossly insufficient for them.

Dalung also noted that government would not compromise the security and welfare of youths on national service.

However, he was quick to warn corps members of the danger inherent in non-disclosure of their health status.

He said: “To be sick is human and sickness is not a crime. There is, therefore, no reason for hiding one’s heath status. Giving necessary information will enable the relevant authority take necessary action, including granting redeployment requests to corps members with serious health challenges to states where they can have access to physicians that are conversant with their cases.”

Dalung's disclosure comes just days after the governor of Ekiti state Ayodele Fayose called on the Nigerian government to increase allowance of members of the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC).
