The FBI has released surveillance images of a man described as a “person of interest” in the fatal shooting of conservative activist Charlie Kirk, who was killed on Wednesday while speaking at Utah Valley University.
On Thursday, federal authorities unveiled grainy security camera footage showing a man dressed in a black long-sleeved T-shirt, dark sunglasses, and a baseball cap.

The individual, seen clenching his fists and ascending a stairway, appeared to be wearing a shirt emblazoned with an American flag and eagle motif.
The FBI posted the images on X (formerly Twitter) on 10 September, urging the public to assist in identifying the man. “We are asking for the public’s help identifying this person of interest in connection with the fatal shooting of Charlie Kirk at Utah Valley University,” the bureau stated, alongside a tip line: 1-800-CALL-FBI.
No Arrests Yet as FBI Recovers Rifle and Prints
As of Thursday evening, no suspects had been taken into custody, more than 20 hours after the shooting. However, investigators reported significant developments in the case.
Robert Bohls, special agent in charge of the FBI’s Salt Lake City office, confirmed that authorities had recovered what they believe to be the murder weapon — a high-powered bolt-action rifle — from a wooded area near the university campus.
In addition to the firearm, Bohls said forensic teams had located the suspect’s footprints and palm prints at the scene. “We are and will continue to work nonstop until we find the person that has committed this heinous crime, and find out why they did it,” he told reporters.
